Lost a post you started writing? Here's how to find your Twitter (X) drafts on every device in 2026.

Important: drafts don't sync

X stores drafts on the device where you wrote them. A draft saved on your iPhone won't show up on desktop, and the other way around. Always check the device you used.

iPhone (iOS)

  1. Open the X app and tap the + (compose) button.
  2. Tap Drafts in the top-right corner of the compose screen.
  3. Tap a draft to keep editing, or Edit to delete drafts.

If you don't see Drafts, there are no saved drafts on this phone.

Android

  1. Open the X app and tap the + button, then the compose icon.
  2. Tap Drafts at the top of the compose screen.
  3. Pick the draft you want to continue.

Desktop (x.com)

  1. Click Post in the left menu to open the composer.
  2. Click Drafts (top right of the composer).
  3. Switch between Unsent posts and Scheduled to see both.

Why drafts disappear

  • You logged out or reinstalled the app.
  • You cleared your browser data.
  • You wrote the draft on another device.

Never lose a long post again

Write long posts and threads in a notes app or a dedicated writing tool first. Check the length with our X character counter, and read how to post long tweets and threads on X.
